Features

Eggplant ‘Rembrandt F1’ is a highly productive variety with a medium-long, rounded fruit shape. The plants produce high yields of uniform fruits and are suitable for greenhouse cultivation, polytunnels and open-field growing. The large leaves protect the fruits from discoloration caused by excessive light. Thanks to the absence of spines on the fruit stem, the variety is also pleasant to harvest. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption.

Rembrandt is started indoors at 20–25 °C. Sow the seeds lightly covered with seed compost, without pressing down, and keep the soil moist. The plants are raised in about 8–10 weeks in a pot of approximately 10 cm and can be supported up to about 50 cm in height.

When transplanting, the soil temperature should be at least 15 °C; in open-field cultivation this can be accelerated by covering the soil with black plastic in March and April. For outdoor cultivation, transplanting from mid-May until no later than mid-June is recommended, as later transplanting shortens the harvest period.

Rembrandt F1 has strong resistance to Verticillium and Fusarium.
