Features

Celeriac ‘Yara F1’ is a highly productive variety developed for professional cultivation. It grows exceptionally fast and is particularly suitable for the fresh market and long-term storage. The uniform, well-shaped round roots show strong above-ground growth and produce very few side roots, resulting in easy harvesting. The roots have firm white flesh and a very smooth skin. The foliage is compact, dark green, with thin, semi-upright leaf stems and strong regrowth.

‘Yara F1’ has good resistance to Septoria leaf spot. When planted around mid-May, the crop is ready for harvest by late September. Earlier transplanting is discouraged due to the risk of bolting, while double hearts may also occur under stress conditions. With later transplanting (from mid- to late June), ‘Yara F1’ is very well suited for long-term storage.

Celeriac performs best under cool, wet conditions, making it an excellent option for less well-drained soils, as it requires ample water during growth. After harvest, the flesh may taste slightly bitter; however, when the roots are stored just above freezing for a few days, the flavor becomes noticeably sweeter. Store cool and humid.
Note: Not only the root but also the stems are edible and suitable for soups, pasta sauces, or stir-fries. Be aware that the foliage may cause skin irritation; wear gloves and long sleeves if sensitive.
